300 waiting. 3 paid. Which?
A launch-day report: told, clicked, paid.
Free plan, no time limit · No card · Stripe stays read-only
The short answer
Tell the whole waitlist on launch day with one email, tag its link so visits from it are counted, and then check which of the people you told paid within 30 days. Compare the payers' signup sources with everyone else's: the sources that produced payers are where your next launch post goes. The rest signed up out of curiosity.
Example data - Everyone the launch email went to.
- Visits from the email's link.
- Who paid within 30 days of their email.
- What they paid.
A waitlist is a promise, not a list of customers.
People join waitlists easily: one field, no commitment. Some were curious; some will pay the day you open. Launch day sorts them, but only if you can see who did what.
Without a report you learn one number, customers, and blame the waitlist. With one, you learn which signups were worth having: which source, which post, which kind of person.
And your next waitlist gets better, because you'll know which channels to build it from.
Measure the launch you did, and the next one.
- 01
Email everyone once, on launch day
One announcement, with a link that carries utm_source=waitlist and a campaign name.
- 02
Count who clicked
The visits from that link, in your analytics.
- 03
Count who paid
Match the people you told to Stripe customers by email, within 30 days of their email. Leave out anyone who was already paying.
- 04
Compare by source
Which signup sources produced payers? Build the next waitlist there.
The launch report does the counting.
Send one announcement to your waitlist from Launch (queued within your daily email quota, with an unsubscribe link) and its link is tagged automatically. The launch report shows how many you told, how many visits the link brought, how many paid within 30 days of their own email, and what they paid, leaving out people who were already paying.
Every signup keeps its source, so you can see where the payers came from.
The announcement email and the launch report need Indie ($19 a month).
Set up in about five minutes.
- 01
Paste one line
About two minutes
Add the script tag to your site, or run npx nordva@latest init and let your AI coding agent wire it in. The first visit shows up within a minute.
- 02
Connect Stripe, read-only
About three minutes
Create a restricted Stripe key with read permissions and paste it. Launch can only read; disconnecting deletes everything it synced. Every plan, Free included.
- 03
See who pays, and why
From the first visit
Where visitors come from, which of them sign up, what they ask you for, and which source brought the ones who pay, on one record per person.
When Launch is the wrong tool.
- You want drip sequences or email campaigns: Launch sends one announcement per launch, not sequences.
Questions, answered.
Why 30 days?
Long enough to count people who needed a while to decide, short enough to credit the email rather than whatever marketing came later. Each person's 30 days start when their own email was sent.
What if I already emailed my waitlist from another tool?
The report covers announcements sent from Launch. Every signup still has its source, so you can see where your paying customers came from.
Does it count people who paid with a different email?
No. The report matches the people you told to Stripe customers by email, so someone who joined with one address and paid with another isn't counted.
