How do I add analytics to a Bolt app?

19 September 2026 · by Nordva, who make Nordva Launch

The short answer

Bolt shows visitors, pages and sources for sites on Bolt Hosting, but only on a paid plan, and its numbers include bots. To see real visitors by source on any plan, and which of them signed up and paid, copy your script tag from Nordva Launch, ask Bolt to add it to the head of every page, and click Update.

The prompt for Bolt
Add Nordva Launch web analytics to this project.

1. Add the script tag I paste at the end of this message to the <head> of every page, exactly as given. Don't change its attributes and don't load it twice.
2. Add data-nordva-goal="signup" to the main signup or "Get started" button, so clicks on it count as a goal.
3. Don't add any other analytics, cookie banner or tracking code, and don't change anything else.
4. Tell me which files you changed.

What Bolt already measures

Projects published to Bolt Hosting on a paid plan get an Analytics page: open the gear icon at the top of the project and choose Analytics. It lists unique visitors, page views, top pages, bandwidth, top traffic sources, visitor locations and the pages that returned “not found”, for up to the last 30 days.

Two limits matter early on. On the Free plan there’s no analytics at all. And Bolt’s docs say its numbers include web crawlers and bots, with no way to separate them from real people. When a launch brings you forty visitors, a few dozen crawler hits can make it look like a hundred. There’s also nothing about UTM tags, so two posts on the same site look like one source.

Step by step

  1. Get your script tag. Sign in to Nordva Launch and open Insights. The setup card shows your tag with your site id filled in:

    <script defer src="https://e.nordva.dev/v1/s.js" data-site="ste_…"></script>
  2. List your domains. Add the address visitors use: your bolt.host address, and your own domain if you’re on a paid Bolt plan and connected one. Launch counts visits only from the domains you list, so your own clicks in Bolt’s preview don’t count unless you add that address too.

  3. Paste the prompt. Copy the prompt above into Bolt’s chat and paste your tag at the end. Bolt works with more than one framework, and the page head lives in a different file in each, so the prompt says “every page” and lets Bolt find it.

  4. Publish the change. Bolt doesn’t update the live site by itself: open the Publish menu and click Update.

  5. Check it. Open the live site in a new tab and click around. The Insights card says “Your first visit is here.” when the first visit arrives, usually within a minute.

To stop Bolt removing the tag in a later rewrite, add a line to the project’s Knowledge (in Project settings), such as “Keep the Nordva Launch analytics script in the head of every page”. Bolt reads Knowledge with every prompt.

What you see after that

Visitors by source, with UTM tags and ?ref= on the first page, the pages people read, countries and cities on a map, devices, and clicks on your signup button. Launch leaves out known bots, visits from data-centre networks and requests without a browser language, so a launch-day spike is people, not crawlers.

Tag the links you share, such as ?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=launch, and every post gets its own row.

Then the part a page counter can’t do. When a visitor joins a Launch waitlist form, or your app calls nordva('identify', { email }) after a signup, Launch links that person to their first visit. Connect Stripe (read-only, available on every plan) and Insights shows which sources brought paying customers.

Visitors in Europe

New sites start in the auto tracking mode: visitors outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland get a first-party cookie so a returning visitor counts once, and visitors inside them only after your cookie banner gets a yes. Without a banner, European visits are still counted, without a visitor id. If you add a banner, call nordva('consent', true) when someone accepts.

Limits

Free includes 10,000 analytics events a month per account and one funnel of up to three steps. Indie includes 100,000 events and five funnels. Free has no time limit and needs no card.

When Launch is the wrong tool

If you're on a paid Bolt plan and only want to know roughly how many people visit and which pages they read, Bolt's own analytics covers that. Launch is for when you need sources you can trust and the link from a visit to a signup and a payment.
